WW Granite Treasure wins G2 Tulsa State Fair Stakes
FORT WORTH, Texas—WW Granite Treasure dominated the $20,000 Grade 2 Tulsa
State Fair Stakes at Fair Meadows in Tulsa on July 25, 2010. His nearest
competitor, Little Possum Jet, finished almost a full length behind him. The 350
yard race for two-year-old Paints and Appaloosas was run in a winning time of
17.64 seconds, earning WW Granite Treasure a speed index of 92 along with
$11,730 in prize money.

Four of the ten entries into the race were horses that missed qualifying for the Grade 1
Speedhorse Futurity, including WW Granite Treasure. The 2008 bay solid
Paint-bred gelding is sired by Granite Lake AQHA and is out of Misty Joe Too,
who is sired by Treasured Too. Sidney and Donna Ward of Belleville, Arkansas
bred and own the gelding. This was their geldings first stakes win, his second
win overall from seven starts. His total earnings are now $46,901. For this race
he was ridden by Kenny Muntz and is trained by Luis VillaFranco.
Finishing second was Little Possum Jet, earning $3,910 and an 88 speed index.
The 2008 sorrel solid Paint-bred mare is bred, owned and trained by Ray Enlow of
Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The mare is sired by Jungle Jet and out of Streakin Possum
AQHA, who is sired by A Streak Of Cash AQHA. She crossed the wire with a time of
17.77 seconds with jockey Mario Chavez aboard.
Third across the wire was White Legged Cowboy, a 2008 flashy sorrel overo
gelding by Dos Poruno and out of Heavenly Prize Gal, who is sired by Royal Quick
Dash AQHA. The gelding is owned by Suzie Marrs of Ada, Oklahoma, and was bred by
Linda Fox of Maud, Oklahoma. Jockey Matthew Casebolt was in the irons for
trainer Luis VillaFranco. The gelding finished the race with a time of 17.84
seconds, earning $2,151, to make his total earnings $16,790.
Other horses completing the race, along with times, include RP Miranda Dash
(18.04 seconds), Flash Of Silk (18.17 seconds), Country Quick Slew (18.22
seconds), Poruno Special Kitty (18.37 seconds), Velvet Cowgirl ApHC (18.55
seconds) and Wendys A Lil Country (18.73 seconds). Flashin Bubbles was
disqualified to tenth due to interference.
